13 Dec 2013 The Medical Superintendent at NRH writes:

We are just not able to pay any expatriate level salaried positions but will welcome those who want to come long-term for say a year on local salary conditions or for short-term (minimum one month) on their own as volunteers and we will help with accommodation or stay in Jubillee House.

NRH: Main areas of shortage are:

  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Consultant and Registrar-House officer)
  • Anaesthetics (Registrar-House officer)
  • General Doctor for Emergency Department
  • Internal Medicine (Consultant and Registrar-House officer)
  • General surgery (Registrar-House officer)
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)
  • There is also a big shortage of physiotherapists

Provincial Hospitals: All the provinces have shortage of general doctors

Please note that Solomon Islands is looking for experienced specialists/consultants or Senior Registrars, not beginners.
